The Regional Municipality of Durham (the Region) is proceeding with an expansion of the Whitby Water Supply Plant (WWSP) at 289 Water Street in Whitby. Supporting infrastructure will be added on the north side of the road at 270 Water Street, including but not limited to an Energy Centre, a secured staff parking area, a shared public parking lot as well as a construction laydown and staging area.
The expansion of the WWSP is planned to be implemented over five contracts:
Contract 1 - D2022-07 - Whitby WSP Industrial Raw Water Pumping Station Relocation & Outfall Chamber Construction (construction started in Winter 2023)
Contract 2 - Existing WSP Filter Rehabilitation & Upgrades (construction target 2024 start)
Contract 3 - Site Preparation & Energy Centre (construction target 2024 start)
Contract 4 - Whitby WSP Expansion (construction target 2026 start)
Contract 5 - Site & Public Realm Improvements (construction target 2029 start)
